Susan Keller owned more land and controlled more grazing acreage by right of might than anyone in the county. No man who had dared to oppose her and her hired gun-slicks had remained in Shoshone – and above ground.

Eli Bradley, a retired Calvary man and now editor of the town’s only newspaper decided that the time had come to fight the tyranny which spread from the Broken Skull ranch. It needed just one hard-fitting, honest report in the paper to set the town blazing and lead Eli himself into a bitter personal feud with Zeke Smiley, the foreman of Broken Skull. Zeke was a man proud of his reputation of having the quickest draw in the territory.

Mason Macrae has written another gripping Western which reaches it’s climax in a thrilling duel to the death.

Originally published in 1959 and titled “Shoot-Out”, we republished this book as a 2nd Edition on April 8, 2023, on Kindle. For reasons unknown, there were several Mason Macrae books that were not picked up and republished on Kindle by Lume Books. This was one of them. The story is, like all of the Mason Macrae books, fun and entertaining to read.
